The Gaza War

This new Gaza War .... If I have one thing to contribute to the Jesus-following world it's this:   The Bible is about God's unfailing, unchanging love.   Love!    And not every scripture is about you or me personally.   When it says ISRAEL... it means ... ISRAEL, the place, the people.    It means EVERYONE because EVERYONE is invited to be grafed into His covenant with Israel.   NOT INSTEAD of it.

One of everyone's favorite scriptures, Jer 29:11.. I know the plans I have for you...

It's not about you ...

or me personally.   It's about what God is saying to Israel, the Jewish people in a specific time and place.  ... don't leave Babylon till the prophesied time of 70 years of captivity is up.    But it is true for us NOW because God showed who He was THEN towards Israel.   Patient in His love.  True to His word.     Not because we claim that promise but because "you will call to me, pray to me, and I will listen to you, I'll be found by you, when you come to me with a whole heart Jer 29.12-13 (us today!)     God is faithful, not because Israel deserves it (definitely not).   It's when we seek him, and because He doesn't change.

Before coming to the Lord, I didn't have a positive view of Israel, like many American Jewish Liberals, which I was.   Jesus made me a Zionist!

I use the Biblegateway.com bible in a year schedule, for many years.     I knew that one of my favorite scriptures,  a life scripture for me was coming up today.

21 Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. Isaiah 30:21

I was saying I was looking forward to today, reading Isaiah 30... thinking of v21  But this verse seems to describe what we are seeing in the Gaza war....

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel,
“Since you have rejected this word
And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them,
13 Therefore this iniquity will be to you
Like a breach about to fall,
A bulge in a high wall***,
Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant, Isaiah 30:12-13

***like this border incursion???
God answers:

But He doesn't.   So we

Does that mean you need to pray for and support Israel?    Yes, it does.   Not because she is perfect, she isn't.  Because if God changes his mind when He says he'll make an EVERLASTING covenant FOREVER with Israel, and then just sort of changes His mind because some post-modern theologian or half-baked bible reader likes the notion, you better stay indoors because He might change his mind... about YOU.
So we

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you. Psalms 122:6
